Our Tech Stack

We build holi in a way that allows the vast majority of people to participate, regardless of the device they are using. That's why we're building a web technology-based foundation for cross-platform apps that work on popular mobile devices as well as on computers.

You can expect to work in an up-to-date React Native codebase that drives Expo-delivered mobile apps and a Next.JS web app. The frontends connect to a monolithic Django/Python-based backend and a range of Deno Typescript services via Apollo-mediated GraphQL.

We already achieved a high grade of automation with regards to Continuous Integration, Testing and Deployment and are at home in the Google Cloud Platform. We are Open Source, if you’re interested in details, check our documentation.

As a Senior Front End Engineer at holi, you will...

implement innovative user interfaces that are a joy to use.
collaborate with engineers, business people and designers daily.
participate in communities of practice.
ensure the function and performance of your solutions through automated tests.
uncover better ways of developing frontends and help others do it.
feel responsible for operating our apps as well as improving the way we work together.
apply your knowledge in or learn about multiple of these areas – routing, data handling, internationalization, responsive styling, theming, accessibility and more…

What we're looking for

Ideally you..

are an experienced, web- or mobile-savvy frontend developer.
know how to think in React to implement and maintain complex frontend components.
are used to work with an existing code base, value clean, well-structured and understandable code and continuously improve the code base as you go along.
like to work transparently and contribute ideas in our search for the best solution.
appreciate social commitment and want to have positive impact on the world.
enjoy working in a remote-first company setting.
are not scared to ask for help.
are open to pair or mob program.
are a proficient English communicator, both verbally and in writing.

Bonus points if you...

have the willingness to go full stack and work outside one’s own (technological) comfort zone
have previous experience in technologies matching our tech-stack and application domain.
can draw an Owl in Figma or Miro

Practical Information

We are a remote-first company, and you can work fully remote (Europe) or visit us at our Hamburg office.
We organize company-wide retreats and optional meet-ups every quarter.
Ideally, your working hours align with CET +/-2 hours.
We offer flexible part-time or full-time arrangements.
We encourage taking time off when needed, with an unlimited vacation day policy (minimum 25 days per year based on full-time employment).
